We provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for couples and relationship problems from our offices in Carrick on Shannon, Leitrim and by video Link across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Irish counties. Relationship therapy is delivered by fully qualified Behavioural Couples Psychotherapists with additional qualifications in Systemic Therapy and training in "third-wave" models including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
Couples Behavioural Therapy is a highly focused, structured and practical approach to resolving communication problems and managing relationship conflict. Unlike other forms of relationship counselling or couples therapy, CBT for couples focuses on identifying, mapping out, understanding, and changing the unworkable and destructive patterns of behaviour that maintain relationship distress, conflict and dissatisfaction .
Couples often turn to Behavioural Therapy for relationship problems following unsuccessful or unhelpful experiences with other forms of couples counselling. This is because CBT provides a more practical approach to resolving the difficulties that frequently lead to distance, isolation and breakdown in relationships.
If you work with one of our couples Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapists, you will be asked to commit to clear ground rules for relationship behaviour, to engage in constructive communication skills and to practice managing healthy relationship boundaries and shared responsibilities.
